| Drumsets by Yamaha
Peeler Drum Center is proud to be
one of the top 10 largest privately owned distributors of Yamaha drums in
the United States. Yamaha drums are made with exceptional
craftsmanship and attention to detail. Their drumshells are made
with a Yamaha exclusive patented "air seal" process which
ensures 100% pressure around the shell during forming to ensure perfect
roundness and maximum adhesion of the individual wood plys. Yamaha
lacquer finishes are exceptional and the quality of metal parts, machining
and chrome plating is unsurpassed. Yamaha
quality is obvious in all the different series of drums they produce, even
in the more affordable price ranges.

Yamaha currently produces drums
in seven design/price categories.
In brief, they could be summed up as follows:
* Stage Custom (currently being redesigned
for re-introduction in 2008)
* Tour Custom series - Mid-price
drumsets with exceptional quality and features not usually found on drumsets in
this price range. Ideal for semi-professionals, schools and Churches who
want a fine quality drumset on a budget. The Tour Customs have 100% maple
shells (Asian maple) and superior quality metal parts and lacquer finish quality
which set them apart from all other drumsets in their price range.
* Oak Custom Series - Featuring ultra hard 100% Oak
shells, these "High/mid" priced drums possess an aggressive mid-range
sound, with lots of bite and sharp attack, but also a nice resonance of low
tones. These drums have caused quite a stir because of
their unique sound, beautiful appearance and professional level quality and
sound at an affordable mid-high price point.
* Absolute/Absolute Nouveau Series in Maple or Birch - Highest quality professional grade drumsets created with extreme attention to detail, the
Absolute series is available with either Maple or Birch wood shells. Since
the same palette of colors is available in either Maple or Birch wood shells, it
is possible to configure "hybrid" shell wood set-ups such as a
"maple bass drum and snare drum with birch toms" etc. Both series now feature new light weight die cast aluminum rims, with the
Nouveau series featuring Yamahas newly developed "Nouveau"
pop-off lug
casings which facilitate easier head changes as well as reduce the resonance-inhibiting contact of hardware to the drum shell to an absolute minimum.
* Recording Custom series - This series of Yamaha drums are known throughout the music industry as
"the
most recorded drums in the world". The Recording Custom series
features Birch shells and classic "long lug" tension casings and are
Yamaha's original and most famous high end drumset line. Recording Custom
drums are kept in stock in limited quantities at the Yamaha warehouse, but a
non-standard set configuration or low-stock situation may require special
ordering with a 4-6 month wait.
* Maple Custom series - Yamahas' most famous flagship maple drumset featuring Maple
shells, small single bolt mounted low mass tension casings, "YESS"
resonance enhancing tom mounts and exquisite craftsmanship. Maple
Custom drums are generally not kept in stock at the Yamaha warehouse,
therefore they are a special order item which requires a 4-6 month fabrication
and delivery time.
* Hip-Gig micro-drumsets meant for
ultimate portability while maintaining quality sound. Three models
available in varying price ranges, "Manu Katche" signature kit,
"Al Foster" signature kit and "Rick Marotta" signature
kit.
|
| Yamaha's Tour Custom
series is a superior quality maple-shelled drum series (Asian maple)
in a "less than professional" price range. As usual,
Yamahas' metal parts quality is supreme, including the quality of lug
casings, rims and mounts. The drums feature YESS tom suspension
mounts for enhanced resonance. Hardware/pedals/stands are available
pre-configured with these kits in either the 700 or 800 series, the same
quality hardware offered on their elite professional kits. The
lacquer finishes of these kits are beautiful, being color-sanded and
buffed to a level of perfection seldom seen on a drumset in the price
range of the Tour Custom.
Price range: Low-mid
Shell material: Asian Maple
Finish: Lacquer finishes: Black Onyx (Piano Black), Brown
Sunburst, Ocean Blue (dark transparent blue) and Sakura White (Transparent
white with a hint of woodgrain)
Rims: Stamped triple flange steel
Hardware: Tour Custom series sets can come as
"shell packs" without stands/pedals or can be pre-configured with
700 or 800 series hardware packages. |

Yamaha Oak Custom Series
|
|

|
|
Yamaha recently introduced
it's Oak Custom drumsets. Oak is a hard, stable wood which is usually very
difficult to shape into a round drum
shell. Using their patented "Air Seal" method of shell
construcion, Yamaha has managed the feat and the Oak
Custom serious of drums possess a razor sharp attack and aggressive midrange
presence with nicely resonating low end.
They have an elegant smaller lug casing design for maximum shell
resonance.
Price range: High/mid (less
than the Yamaha "Absolute" series in Maple/Birch)
Shell material: 100% Oak
Finish: (3) Gloss lacquer woodgrain
finishes Transparent Black (Musashi Black MSB), Transparent Red (Red Oak
ROK) and Transparent Honey Amber Gloss (York Honey Amber AMO) (shown)
Rims: Triple flanged stamped steel
Hardware: Available as individual component drums or
"shell packs, or heavy duty hardware/stands/pedals can be included in
pre-packed sets. "YESS" tom suspension
mounts are standard.

Yamaha Absolute &
Absolute Nouveau Series |
| Yamaha's Absolute series
of drums is actually 4 distinct lines
consisting of Maple Absolute and Birch Absolute, each available in either the "classic lug" version or recently
released removable "Nouveau lug" version. The two different choices in shell material give the
buyer his choice in tone, from the round, warm, highly record-able sound
of Birch, to the powerful, clear, projective sound of Maple. Beautiful lacquer
finishes in unique woodgrain, solid and sparkle colors give these
drums distinct individuality (the picture at right is an example of
their amazing sparkle finishes...that's a lacquer paint finish, NOT a
plastic wrap!). Since each different wood-type series of these drums shares
the same palette of available colors as the others, the buyer can actually order
a drumset with a variety of shell wood types (for example, a Maple
bass drum, Birch tom toms) and all drums will have
matching color/finish (with some degree of variation due to specific
woodgrain character on transparent woodgrain finishes) Price range: High
Shell material: Maple, Birch
Finish: A large variety of standard "kept in stock"
lacquer colors, as well as an extensive array of "Custom
order" lacquer colors (3 to 6 month fabrication and delivery
time).
Rims: New Yamaha exclusive "die cast aluminum"
rims which provide benefits of die cast rims without the tonal drawbacks
that heavier metal die cast rims possess.
Hardware: Absolute series sets can come pre-configured with
heavy duty (800 series) hardware/stands, or they can be purchased as
shell-packs alone giving the buyer the choice to purchase hardware from
the several quality/price ranges which Yamaha offers.

an actual
drum made in every color currently offered in the Yamaha Absolute

These pictures give a much better impression of the colors
than a printed color "chart" can give.
The following 9 colors are usually kept in
